SAPS report of findings in White River Police Station saga postponed

The SAPS' report of its findings in its investigation of the White River Police Station incident has been postponed.

The SAPS was supposed to release the report on its internal investigation into the incident today.

However, it has announced that these findings would only be made public at a later date.

The investigation was launched after a video had gone viral on social media, depicting a man being assaulted in the station as some police officers stood idly by.

AfriForum has taken on the case of the man who was assaulted, Barend Byliefeldt, and his fiancée, Delia Human.

Marnus Kamfer, legal and risk advisor of community safety for AfriForum said they are waiting for the results of the police’s investigation to be made public at the hearing, which will take place on June 10, before they move forward.

“The findings will determine where our case will go,” said Kamfer.

AfriForum said it was only told at the last minute that the meeting had been rescheduled.
